Leadership Speeches

Year 6 offers a wide range of leadership opportunities and all students are encouraged to apply for the roles of House, SRC and Green Team Captain roles. We understand that not all students feel as though they are ready to become a Captain, however, we ask all students to write a leadership speech to prepare them for the day that they do feel confident and excited about taking on such a role.

We discuss the many qualities and features that are essential to an effective delivery of a speech, along with the critical elements that are essential to the content of a leadership speech. Key focus areas include:

  • · Eye Contact
  • · Facial Expression
  • · Body Language
  • · Rate and Volume
  • · Vocalisations
  • · Enthusiasm
  • · Time Frame
  • · Visual Aid
  • · Audience Involvement
